20 May 2026 - Dominic Oates Joins Trent Refractories Sales Team As Business Development Manager

Trent Refractories welcomes it’s newest member Dominic Oates who has joined as our New Business Development manager. Those in the industry may already be familiar with Dominic who is also the current President of The Institute of Refractories Engineers.

Dominic graduated in 1999 with a degree in European Business from the University of Lincoln and in 2012 received his MBA from Rutgers University. He has had a largely international career working in France, Spain, Sweden and finally in China, even upon his return to UK he has continued to travel through his various international sales roles.

He started his career in refractories with Asmet UK ltd where he sold metallurgical products into the iron industry and developed their refractories raw material business. Dominic went on to work for Alkegen where he was responsible for UK and Nordic territories selling vacuum formed fibre shapes, metal delivery systems and refractory concretes into Aluminium and Super Alloys markets.

On joining Trent Refractories Dominic says, ‘Firstly I am honoured to have been offered and really happy to take up this opportunity with a forward-thinking company like Trent. It has long been a business which I have followed since my early days selling refractory raw materials and more recently through its involvement in the IRE and its role in lobbying government to increase spending and investment with UK based manufacturers. I’m really looking forward to helping the business grow and seeing how the refractories industry develops in view of the huge economic and technical changes currently taking place across the European continent.’
