We caught up with Katy Moss from Trent Refractories on winning an Amazon Growing Business Award in 2016.

What does it mean to you as a company to have won the Triumph over Adversity award?

It was really humbling to receive the award. When you read about the calibre of applicants who are in your category it makes you stop and take stock of what you are doing. I think for the business it is a great thing as it raises the profile of the business and makes your competitors heads turn. My hope is that it has put my business back on the map.

How has winning your award impacted Trent Refractories?

Winning the award, I believe has changed the perception about the company from the outside world. When we receive enquiries, people comment about it and say they get a warm feeling about doing business with us. I believe it does set us apart from our competitors.

What would you say to similar companies who are deciding whether to enter this year?

If people are considering entering then they should make the time and do it, even to be nominated is a wonderful experience in itself. The awards night is a great opportunity to network and to bring your team together. How many opportunities like this do you get in your life to do something great?
