Oil & Gas Key Areas

A Carbon Black Reactor is an industrial device used in the production of carbon black, a fine black powder composed of elemental carbon. Carbon black is primarily used as a reinforcing filler in rubber products (such as tires), a pigment in inks, coatings, and plastics, and in various other applications like electronics and energy storage.

A CO boiler is a thermal oxidizer that uses waste heat recovery to burn carbon monoxide-rich gases from petroleum refineries. CO boilers are used in the hydrocarbon processing industry.

A Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU) is a key piece of equipment in an oil refinery that converts heavy hydrocarbon fractions from crude oil, like vacuum gas oil, into lighter, more valuable products like gasoline by breaking down large molecules using a powdered catalyst in a fluidized bed process, essentially "cracking" the heavy oil into smaller components; it is considered a vital step in maximizing gasoline yield from crude oil.

In the oil and gas sector, "heaters" refer to specialized equipment used to apply heat to various fluids during the extraction, processing, and transportation stages, typically utilising combustion to generate heat and often designed to handle high pressures and temperatures, with common types including heater treaters, furnace heaters, and convection heaters depending on the specific application within the oil and gas operations.

In the oil and gas sector, a "seal pot" is a small vessel used to store a barrier fluid that protects the mechanical seals of pumps and other rotating equipment by creating a pressurised barrier between the process fluid and the atmosphere, preventing leaks and extending the life of the seals; essentially acting as a lubrication system for the seals by maintaining a fluid layer around the rotating shaft.

A sulfur recovery unit (SRU) is a piece of equipment that removes and destroys sulfur compounds from gas and oil to prevent harmful emissions.

In the oil and gas sector, "transfer lines" refer to pipelines or hoses used to move oil or gas between different points in the production process, typically from a wellhead to a gathering station, from a processing facility to a storage tank, or between tankers and onshore storage facilities, essentially facilitating the transfer of fluids between various locations within the system.
