Refratachnik Partnership Areas

Magnesia-Carbon (MgO-C) bricks are widely used in steelmaking due to their excellent high-temperature resistance, slag resistance, and thermal shock stability. These refractory bricks are primarily composed of magnesia (MgO) and carbon (C), providing superior performance in extreme conditions encountered in steel manufacturing processes.

Fired and tempered dolomite bricks are high-performance refractory materials used in stainless steel converters and ladles due to their excellent resistance to high temperatures, slag corrosion, and thermal shock. These bricks are primarily composed of sintered dolomite (CaO·MgO) and are processed through firing and tempering to enhance their durability and stability.

AMC (Alumina-Magnesia-Carbon) and MAC (Magnesia-Alumina-Carbon) bricks are high-performance refractory materials widely used in ladle applications due to their superior resistance to high temperatures, slag penetration, and thermal shock. These bricks are designed to withstand the extreme conditions of steel refining and molten metal handling, ensuring extended service life and enhanced efficiency in steelmaking operations.

Alumina-based refractory bricks are widely used in ladle applications due to their high-temperature resistance, excellent slag resistance, and superior mechanical strength. These bricks, primarily composed of alumina (Al₂O₃), are designed to withstand the harsh conditions of molten metal handling and steel refining processes.

Dolomite-based refractory mixes are essential materials in the steelmaking industry, particularly for converter (BOF, AOD, and VOD) and ladle applications. These mixes, composed primarily of dolomite (CaO·MgO), offer excellent resistance to high temperatures, aggressive slag corrosion, and thermal shock. They are widely used for gunning, fettling, and ramming applications to repair and maintain linings in converters and ladles.

Colloidal silica monolithic materials are advanced refractory solutions widely used in high-temperature industrial applications, particularly in steelmaking, foundries, petrochemical industries, and cement production. These materials utilise colloidal silica as a binder, providing excellent thermal stability, high mechanical strength, and superior resistance to slag and chemical corrosion.

Holloware refers to a range of refractory components used in ingot casting to control the flow of molten metal and ensure high-quality ingot formation. These components are crucial in the primary steelmaking and foundry industries, where they facilitate efficient and defect-free casting by minimising turbulence, preventing oxidation, and ensuring precise metal distribution.

Purge plugs are specialised refractory components used in ladle metallurgy to introduce inert gases (such as argon or nitrogen) into molten steel during refining. This gas stirring process enhances homogenisation, inclusion removal, and temperature control, leading to improved steel quality and operational efficiency.

By leveraging the strengths of both companies, we will complement our existing high level of technical expertise, with access to efficient supply chains, and the best possible products for your needs. Our collaboration with Refratechnik allows us to expand our reach and offer tailored solutions to the UK market, meeting the evolving demands of the industry.

We are now able to offer a comprehensive range of high-performance refractory solutions to customers across the steel and metals industries.
